The first analysis of Salems hearing test makes him a candidate for implant surgery.

August 17, 2010

My today’s visit and first analysis of Salems hearing test at the “League for the hard of hearing” in Jerusalem was a bit frustrating. With the almost complete hearing loss, only a cochlear implant surgery would make a significant change.I got the address of a specialist at the Hadassah Hospital to do a more profound test and an evaluation of this surgery.

I will try to get an appointment as soon as possible for Salem, but if this kind of surgery is affordable for my foundation is a complete other chapter.I could raise the funds to buy him new hearing aide’s,but a surgery will cost much more than that. But it would also be a complete restore of his hearing for the rest of his life. There is also the fact that this Bedouin Family from the Jahalin Tripe has no health insurance and so they will never be able to afford this surgery by they’re own. They are living in Westbank on Israeli territory, but do not have the right to get a israeli citizenship or passport, not even the permission to leave Palestine. Most of they’re land has been confiscated from Israel after the 6 day war of 1948.Many live now next to the municipal dump of Jerusalem near Al Azariah (Photo).
