Riding into Istanbul at rush hour was like doing a Tour de France sprint final.

June 11, 2010

It was rush hour when i approached Istanbul with it’s estimated 15 million inhabitants on the highway. Not the most comfortable way,but the only one…Speeding trucks who pass by only a few centimeters of my handlebar where the biggest challenge, i love challenges. In total it was very much comparable to a Sprint final of a Tour de France stage with all its adrenalin. But i arrived sound and save and will stay some day’s because i have to wait for some bike spare parts from Austria.I will also check out the town and see how people live.

  3. I guess you are on a very interesting and exciting tour..:) I liked the idea of biking through Turkey, I’d like to do that too, if only I had enough time..

I guess you’re in Syria now, their food are really amazing, don’t be afraid of getting a diarrhea, indulge in those heavenly meals! :)

And if you are planning to bike through Turkey again on the way back, be extra careful in cities.. Drivers might act like crazy, especially during after-hours rush..

And of course don’t skip Istanbul just because you saw it once.. Once is just the beginning.. :)
